Royal College of Surgeons - New Academic Building

The new academic building at No.26 York Street builds on 200 years of excellence and innovation in medical training. The brief demanded a highly complex programme of spaces on a compact urban site including technically advanced simulated environments for clinical and surgical training as well as a new library, auditorium and sports facility.

Underpinning the College’s historic presence on St. Stephen’s Green, this ten storey building negotiates the planning height constraints encountered in the historic city core by incorporating four basement levels.

Dorset Street Student Housing

The development of this underutilised brownfield urban site provided a significant opportunity. Dorset Point, a six-storey mixed-use development, provides accommodation for 447 students, associated management suite, student common areas, gymnasium, and retail spaces. The development of this underutilised brownfield urban site provided a significant opportunity to aid in the area’s regeneration along with providing essential student accommodation in Dublin.

The building is arranged to repair the urban edges of the site, providing a positive street frontage to Dorset and Wellington Street, and elevating Paradise Place from a neglected back lane to a dignified residential street. A simple articulated break in the street line marks the primary entrance to the site.
