Project Claremont Howth Road
The site strategy was developed as a direct response to the character, opportunities and constraints of the site and its surrounds.
Project Claremount is a mixed use development of residential, retail, restaurant/cafe, and a creche in 4 blocks (A to D). A ribbon of 3 storey + attic stacked duplex units face onto the Howth Road, expressed as a village terrace referencing the local context and scale.
The terrace runs along the street edge, returning to provide continuous frontage along the transverse public parkland spaces. The ground floor duplex units are accessed directly off the Howth Road and the scale of the terrace mediates between the tall gable ends of the main blocks and the public entrance road into the town. A new threshold and entry sequence to the town is created.
