Central Bank of Ireland, Dublin Landings

Following a successful collaboration on the Central Bank of Ireland’s North Wall Quay HQ, CBOI approached Henry J Lyons to re-imagine their adjacent Dublin Landings premises as an extension to the Bank’s growing campus.

Henry J Lyons’ design unifies the two seven-storey-over-double-basement Dublin Landings blocks around a light-filled, active central atrium, with a 30m link bridge created to connect the new building to the North Wall Quay HQ. A ‘work choice’ ethos underlies the project, balancing open-plan office space with a variety of enclosed meeting spaces and open breakout space to support and encourage different modes of work and collaboration. Well-being and productivity are maximised in a design that emphasises natural light, acoustic comfort and adaptability, realised in a palette of natural materials and neutral tones. In keeping with CBOI’s policies, the inclusive design exceeds regulatory compliance to meet best practice guidance. The project excels in terms of sustainability, achieving BER A2 and LEED Platinum, and is on target to achieve a BREEAM Outstanding accreditation. All of this was achieved – on time, and on budget – in the context of a pandemic, which led to specification, sourcing and labour challenges, and design adjustments reflecting rapidly-changing attitudes to workspace.
