Two to Four Wilton Park

A socially vibrant hub which strengthens the civic nature of this important part of the city

Two to Four Wilton Park is a dynamic new mixed-use urban development in Dublin that reimagines and activates a previously hidden part of the city. It takes advantage of its unique setting to breathe new life into the entire area by creating a warm and inviting setting with a focus on community, culture, and sustainability.

The development forms part of IPUT's overall Wilton Park masterplan and consists of three separate, interlinked buildings which face onto Wilton Park and the Canal. The design was assessed and benchmarked against international projects both in terms of how to integrate large new buildings into an historic core area while at the same time providing facilities for the wider communities and excellent workplaces for the future occupiers. The buildings are carefully composed to respond sensitively to the rhythm, texture and variety of the historic context, with façades crafted from Italian Travertine and bronze anodised aluminium.

The buildings are carefully composed to respond sensitively to the rhythm, texture and variety of the historic context

The client's brief was for buildings which would be exemplars in contemporary architecture, placemaking and sustainability that would attract premium tenants and activate the urban realm. The site sits at the edge of the city's historic Georgian quarter, so the composition and materials had to be carefully designed and selected to respect the surrounding context. Elevational compositions break down the overall massing of the building while the stepped profile of the section from front to back preserves viewing sightlines from the nearby Fitzwilliam Square.

Wilton Park takes an innovative and holistic approach to workplace design and sets out to be more than just an office development. Whilst office space is the main driver, the development will also create a socially vibrant hub and an economically viable, highly sustainable group of buildings which improve the appearance and strengthen the civic nature of this important part of the city. Extensive active uses have been provided at pedestrian level, in and around the public square, to cater for occupiers and visitors. The street level of the building is occupied and activated by a series of units which will cater for a diverse blend of uses such as cafes, restaurants, bakeries and wine bars.
