The Sorting Office

The Sorting Office is a significant revitalization project for Dublin south docklands. It’s 28,000 sq metres of office space makes a vital link from a nationally significant Grand Canal Docks to inject new life into its derelict deindustrialised hinterlands.

The project is located on the former site of the large distribution centre for Ireland’s postal service ‘An Post’ from which it gets its name - the Sorting Office. As a seven-story-above-basement high-performance office, designed with neighbouring residential blocks this project has restored streetlife in a hitherto derelict industrial area [See Ropemaker Place].

In contrast to the jagged edges of adjoining buildings by Grand Canal Dock, the calm elegance of the splayed south-east facing corner at the junction of Cardiff Lane and Hanover Street East reaches beyond the site to establish a vital set piece for its Dublin streetscape.
